Bridging the Communication Divide is a cooperative game played in teams. The purpose of this experiential game is to introduce individuals to four principal communication styles—Direct, Spirited, Considerate, and Systematic—and to demonstrate that each style has very different communication strengths and weaknesses. The game can be used as a stand-alone activity or in conjunction with the HRDQ assessment program What’s My Communication Style?

The game is intended to simulate the real world, where people of different styles regularly interact. The intersection of differing styles is a frequent source of poor communication, misunderstanding, and conflict. Knowing your style strengths (or preferences) and aligning them with the styles of those you work with is a key step to developing effective communication skills.
