Effective coaching in the workplace can lead to stronger leaders, more motivated employees, improved morale, and better communication. So what does it take to become a great coach? Enhance your coaching training with Get Fit for Coaching – A Skill Practice Game based on the Get Fit for Coaching Assessment. This fun and fast-paced game gives participants the opportunity to practice the five skills vital to effective coaching: building rapport, observing and analyzing, questioning and listening, providing feedback, and facilitating learning.

How It Works

Get Fit for Coaching – A Skill Practice Game is based on the coaching process model addressed in the Get Fit for Coaching Assessment. This model illustrates the five distinct skills associated with successful coaching (the five competencies measured in the assessment) and the open flow of communication back and forth between the coach and the person being coached.

The 5 Skills to Effective Coaching:

  1. Building rapport
  2. Observing and analyzing
  3. Questioning and listening
  4. Providing feedback
  5. Facilitating learning

After a brief presentation on the five key coaching skills, teams begin the first round of play, racing against the clock to answer coaching questions, and win a chip for each coaching skill. In round two, pairs of players compete to be the first to win five letter cards (one for each of the letters in the word "Coach").

Uses and Applications

Today’s reality is that everyone must be learning new things all the time and be fully engaged in the work at hand. Instead of telling people what to do, today’s coaches need to work with individuals to help them improve, develop, and grow. Get Fit for Coaching – A Skill Practice Game is intended to help individuals build their skill in five areas that are vital too effective, successful coaching.

Get Fit for Coaching – A Skill Practice Game can be used as a standalone game to build, refresh, or reinforce coaching skills, or as part of a leadership training program. It is also a powerful addition to the Get Fit for Coaching assessment, enabling participants to fine-tune areas of strength and improve skill areas as needed through practice.
